Our Two Year Old Room is designed to support children during a critical stage of development – the first transition to independence. At this stage, they begin to learn essential skills such as self-care, potty training, and proper eating habits. Our approach emphasizes routine and structure to help children master these skills with confidence.
To accommodate potty training, our bathroom is outfitted with two separate bathrooms and potties, which are positioned at different heights to accommodate different abilities. This allows children to use the bathroom together and reduces any anxiety or fear that might occur.
Additionally, we have smaller potties that help children feel comfortable and at ease, and group potty time allows children to learn by observing others who have already mastered the proper technique. We also offer standard-size potties for children who have graduated from the smaller versions, so they can practice the routine of using a step stool and properly placing and removing a potty seat.
We provide two circle times per day to encourage group interaction and instruction. After circle time, students break into smaller groups for free play and guided activities, and each child will have one-on-one time with a teacher to develop fine motor skills and creativity through art and expression. Additionally, we incorporate daily activities such as stories, puppet play, and song and dance, to help children engage with the world around them.
Our classroom is led by experienced teachers who understand that at this age, children’s brains are like sponges, eager to absorb new information and experiences!
